The Gray Matter

“He who jofully marches to the music in rank and file has already earned my contempt.

He has been given a large brain by mistake, science for him the spinal cord would fully suffice.

This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once.

Heroism at command, senseless brutality, deplorable love-of-country stance, how violently I ate all this, how despicable an ignorable war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action!

It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder.”

Waiting

Yesterday, I got into a heated conversation with my co-worker about different world issues.  It was basically ended with “…when you do something, I’ll do something”.  I replyed with, “Why, you say you have given up already.  Why would you want to follow my lead?”

I really do not understand why everyone waits to see what the other person is going to do about a situation(s).  Be it small or large.  Why is it another has to be proactive?  Do not allow yourself to be a lamb. You have a voice.  Use it.  Shoot, people who realize they have a voice - use it everyday!!  You do not have to wait for them to do something in order to start making a difference.  It starts small - it may never amount to “15 seconds of fame” - but by golly YOU did it.

The things I do are considered small, however, they are proactive.  Simple stupid stuff. The co-worker does not know that.  Why?  I do not go out here flaunting.  Sometimes not listing out your “resume” is a good thing. The justification of “I do get out there, here it is” - does not appeal to me.  I do not have anything to justify on how I am proactive.  I may get miffed when suggestions are not even taken under advisement.  (At that point, I will go back re-work it and have other solutions.) You do not have to wait to be lead.  Just by waking up and starting simply is enough.  You should be able to expand on that.

*Please note: I am not saying abandon everything you know or ignore the laws that govern us.  You can stay within the laws and natural laws without causing harm to yourself or others.

You can’t change the world - only yourself.

Holiday

Have you noticed, especially around the holiday that just passed, how donations are now only money?

I get that the economy sucks right now.  I know the feeling of helpless, hopeless, and penniless - literally.

Not once during this past holiday season did I hear in my local town how volunteers or clothing donations were needed.  I heard how “make a donation in any domination - would be very helpful”.  Wow.

<Insert the song> “Money makes the world go round…”

The stock markets around the globe - quiver.  The “rich” - hoard; the “blue-collared” - pay out the bum. The idea from the government was, “if these businesses make a lot of money, they’ll create more jobs.” Well, as we know, that back fired.  The plan?  No plan.  No one cares, but damn, you better listen up when people or rather an organizaiton say “we need money”.

How quickly it gets forgotten that we are all on the same boat. Working together would bring out not only the best in people, but a sense of accomplishment - Harming None.
